Independent Filmworks Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to the production of educational, social issue and arts media. Founded in 1990, IFW’s mission is to encourage and support independent filmmakers of integrity and social consciousness in the production of high quality work that seeks to broaden understanding and promote dialogue on various topics concerning the human condition.
Sponsored projects include Girls Like Us, winner of the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner and a National Emmy Award, and, the Sundance Award-winning Tom’s Flesh. Past funders have included the National Endowment for the Arts, Independent Television Service, American Film Institute, Women In Film Foundation, California Council for the Humanities, Rockefeller Foundation and New York State Council for the Arts.
Tina DiFeliciantonio is a founder and former Board President; Jane Wagner is currently the Treasurer.
